Applications

Candidates submit a relevant application to the Secretariat of the Department of Philosophy including title and general draft of the doctoral thesis. In the application, the proposed title, the proposed language and the person proposed as the supervisor of the doctoral thesis, who belongs to those who have the right to supervise a doctoral thesis, according to the provisions of article 7 of these Regulations, are indicated. Applications can be submitted throughout the academic year. The process of evaluating PhD student candidates is continuous.

The required supporting documents submitted, in the form requested according to the notice, by each interested party are the following:

  1. Related application to the Assembly of the Department of Philosophy, in which the information required by law 4485/4-8-2017, article 38, paragraph 2, is mentioned (see also paragraph 1 of article 5).
  2. Detailed CV.
  3. Draft of the proposed PhD thesis which will include the research interests and priorities of the research targeting.
  4. Certificate of sufficient knowledge of at least one of the main modern languages ​​of science: English, French, German. In special cases and in connection with the topic of the thesis, the Assembly may reasonably consider the knowledge of another foreign language (e.g. Arabic, Hebrew, etc.) as a sufficient condition.
  5. Two letters of recommendation from AEI Professors or Lecturers, submitted directly to the Department (electronically) or in an envelope sealed by the signatory.
  6. Copies of up to three theses prepared in undergraduate and postgraduate study programs (at the candidate’s choice).
  7. Depending on the announcement, it is possible by decision of the Assembly to request additional supporting documents, which will be explicitly mentioned in the Department’s invitation.
